GROWING OUR OWN-ON THE KANSAS PLAINS
***WITH HIGH PLAINS ROOFING***
Every once in a
while there’s a story which can be reason for a community to feel good about
itself. Such a story exists with High Plains Roofing, Inc, a local commercial
and residential roofing company which was founded in Hays, sold to an out of
state business man and now has been purchased by an employee who lives in Hays.
Started in 1983 by then Hays resident, Ron Knowles, the company
weathered difficult economic times and yet has grown to become a major roofing
company in the region. In 1992 the company was purchased by Nebraska business
man Alan Erickson and became part of the Weathercraft family of roofing
companies. Hays resident Tom Phillips took over the reins as general manager of
HPR in 1995 and effective April 1, 2005 has purchased the company. The sale
brings the ownership of HPR back to the Hays community. “Northwest Kansas has
really supported this company, plus with the dedicated staff, it made perfect
sense for me to acquire the company and assure it remained a key contractor in
the region.” stated the new owner.
“Due to strong growth, HPR has moved to a new and much larger
facility to meet the needs of its growing customer base.” stated Dan Conell, the
company’s sales manager. “With over 8,000 square feet of space, the new facility
at 1710 East 10th Street will allow us to grow with our customers.”
